eQualed
Privacy policy
Last updated October 15, 2026.
eQualed splits shared expenses between people in a group. This page explains what information the app collects, why, and how to get it deleted.
What we collect
Starting the app creates an anonymous account — no name, email, or phone number required. If you link Sign in with Apple or Google from the Account screen, we store the identifier and email that provider gives us, so your groups survive a reinstall or a new device.
Beyond that, we store what you type in: group names, display names, expenses, amounts, and settle-up records for the groups you're in — and, if you add one, a payment link (e.g. a Venmo or PayPal URL) so group members know where to send you money.
Notifications
If you turn on notifications, we store your device's push token, a code Apple issues so we can reach that phone. We use it only to tell you when someone in your group adds an expense you're in, records a payment with you, or reminds you to even up, and once a month with a summary of what each active group spent. Notifications are delivered through Apple's push service, so their text (the group name, who did it, the expense name and the amount) passes through Apple on its way to your phone. Signing out removes the token, and you can turn notifications off at any time in your phone's Settings.
Receipt photos
When you tap Scan receipt, the photo is sent through OpenRouter to an AI model (Google's Gemini, or Anthropic's Claude as a backup), which reads the total, currency, shop name and date and sends them back to fill in the expense for you to check. We don't keep the photo, and we only use providers that don't store it or use it to train their models. We count how many receipts each account scans per day, to stop misuse. Without a connection, or if the service is unavailable, the receipt is read on your phone instead and nothing is sent.
What we don't collect
The app has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers and no tracking across apps or websites. We don't sell or share your data with third parties for marketing.
This website counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and doesn't identify you or follow you to other sites. It records the page, the referring site, your country, browser and device type. Invite links are counted without their code, so nobody can join a group from the analytics.
Who can see it
Only the members of a group can see that group's expenses and balances — enforced by row-level security on the server, not just the app. We can't see your data either, outside of what's needed to operate the service or respond to a legal request.
Where it's stored
Data is stored with Supabase, our backend provider, on infrastructure in the United States.
Deleting your data
Account → Delete account removes your account and every group where you're the only member; groups you share with others keep the expense history but drop your personal identifiers. This happens immediately and can't be undone.
Children
eQualed isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and, for material changes, note it in the app.
